Jason Mraz has it all.

Jason Mraz has a song called "Butterfly"... and it's not about butterflies. If anything it's about getting it on with his girl. The lyrics are damn sexy (or damn dirty, whichever you prefer), and the beat is really good too.

Unfortunately, it's hard to study when this song is playing. I keep listening to the lyrics and blushing at how much innuendo (is it even innuendo if it's that obvious?!) is in his words.

Take a listen to the mrazterpiece.

"Butterfly" by Jason Mraz
I'm taking a moment just imaginin' that I'm dancin' with you.
I'm your pole and all you're wearing is your shoes.
You got soul. you know what to do to turn me on until I write a song about you.
And you have your own engaging style,
And you've got the knack to vivify,
And you make my slacks a little tight -- you may unfasten them if you like.
That's if you crash and spend the night.

But you don't fold, you don't fade.
You've got everything you need, especially me.
Sister, you've got it all.
You make the call to make my day.
In your message say my name.
Your talk is all the talk. Sister, you've got it all.

Curl your upper lip up and let me look around.
Ride your tongue along your bottom lip and bite down.
And bend your back and ask those hips if I can touch
Because they're the perfect jumping off point of getting closer to your

Butterfly!
Well you float on by.
Oh kiss me with your eyelashes tonight
Or Eskimo your nose real close to mine,
And let's mood the lights and finally make it right.
But you don't fold, you don't fade. you've got everything you need,
Especially me.
Sister, you've got it all.

You make the call to make my day.
In you message say my name.
Your talk is all the talk. Sister, you've got it all.
You've got it all, you've got it all, you've got it all [2x]

You've got it all, you've got it all.

Doll, I need to see you pull your knee socks up.
Let me feel you up!side down. Slide in, slide out, slide over here --
Climb into my mouth now.

Butterfly, well you landed on my mind.
Dammit you landed on my ear and then you crawled inside!
Now I see you perfectly behind closed eyes.
I wanna fly with you, and I don't wanna lie to you.
'Cause I, cause I can't recall a better day so
I'm coming to shine on the occasion.

You're an open minded lady,
You've got it all.
And I never forget a face
Except for maybe my own.
I have my days.
Let's face the fact here, it's you that's got it all.

You know that fortune favors the brave.
Well let me get paid while I make you breakfast.
The rest is up to you, you make the call.

You make the call to make my day.
In your message say my name.
Your talk is all the talk. sister, you've got it all.

Cause I can't recall a better day so
I'm coming to shine on the occasion.
You're a sophisticated lady. Oh, you've got it all.

You've got it all, you've got it all, you've got it all [3x]
You've got it all, you've got it all.

Butterfly, baby, well you've got it all

Regina Spektor Calls

Almost every morning at school we have "Prayers", which is basically assembly. The wonderful thing about Prayers is that there's always someone performing music as the students walk in and out of the assembly hall, as well as after the speaker is done his or her speech. While it's nice to start off your day listening to music, it's even better to start it off playing or singing.

In about a month, I will have the pleasure of accompanying (on the piano)one of the best singers in our school. I'm pretty excited! I've been listening to the songs she'll be singing in between Jason Mraz's "Butterfly" (he's got very sexy lyrics, BTW) and Ingrid Michaelson's "Maybe".

She'll be singing "The Call" by Regina Spektor, "A Bird's Song" by Ingrid Michaelson, and a "Hallelujah" arrangement by Leonard Cohen.

Ooh, I'm so excited!

Here's the YouTube link for "The Call":

And the lyrics!

"The Call" by Regina Spektor
It started out as a feeling
Which then grew into a hope,
Which then turned into a quiet thought,
Which then turned into a quiet word.

And then that word grew louder and louder
Till it was a battle cry.
"I'll come back
When you call me.
No need to say goodbye."

Just because everything's changing
Doesn't mean it's never been this way before.
All you can do is try to know who your friends are
As you head off to the war.

Pick a star on the dark horizon
And follow the light.
You'll come back when it's over.
No need to say goodbye.

You'll come back when it's over.
No need to say goodbye.

Now we're back to the beginning --
It's just a feeling and no one knows yet.
But just because they can't feel it too
Doesn't mean that you have to forget.

Let your memories grow stronger and stronger
Till they're before your eyes.
You'll come back
When they call you.
No need to say goodbye.

You'll come back
When they call you.
No need to say goodbye.

Jason Mraz is a Curious Genius

I'm going through a bit of a Jason Mraz craze right now. I love all of Jason Mraz's songs, including "I'm Yours" and "Lucky". However, those two particular pieces are a little bit overplayed. So, instead of listening to them, I've been spending lots of time indulging in his other gorgeous creations.

What's so impressive about Jason Mraz is that he can write incredible lyrics. There's a beautiful simplicity in his work, and yet the lyrics are powerful and deep. You can never understand them just by reading them once. You have to read them over and over again while hearing his voice sing them. And the magic of it all is that the interpretations differ constantly.

Check out some of his songs if you're in the mood. They're absolutely beautiful. I'll post the lyrics to one of them here.

Enjoy!

"Mr. Curiosity" by Jason Mraz
Hey, Mr. Curiosity,
Is it true what they've been saying about you --
Are you killing me?
You took care of the cat already,
And for those who think it's heavy
Is it the truth,
Or is it only gossip?

Call it mystery or anything
Just as long as you'd call me
I sent the message on. Did you get it when I left it?
See, this catastrophic event?
It wasn't meant to mean no harm,
But to think there's nothing wrong is a problem.

I'm looking for love this time,
Sounding hopeful, but it's making me cry.
Love is a mystery.
Mr. Curious...

Come back to me
Mr. Waiting, ever patient can't you see
That I'm the same the way you left me
In a hurry to spell check me.
And I'm underlined already in envy green
And pencil red.
And I've forgotten what you've said.
Will you stop working for the dead and return?

Mr. Curious, well I need some inspiration.
It's my birthday, and I cannot find no cause for celebration.
The scenario is grave, but I'll be braver when you save me.
From this situation laden with hearsay.

I'm looking for love this time,
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry.
And love is a mystery.
Mr. Curiosity...

Be Mr. Please.
Do come and find me, oh,
Find, find me, find me.

I'm looking for love this time,
Sounding hopeful but it's making me cry.
I'm trying not to ask why
'Cause love is a mystery.
Mr. Curiosity...

Be Mr. Please,
Do come and find me.
Love is blinding when the timing's never right.
Oh, who am I to beg for difference
Finding love in just an instant?
Well I dont mind, at least I've tried.
And I tried, I tried...
